Gilda’s Club Walk for Wellness 2013

I can’t believe that a year has gone by already. The 2012 Walk was the first event that I volunteered for at Gilda’s. In the past 12 months I have made some good friends through the Club.

If you didn’t know, Gilda’s Club is a support group for people living with cancer, their families and friends and the families and friends of those who have lost their battle. Gilda Radner was a comedian who starred on Saturday Night Live and who who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. Gilda’s Club was founded by Joanna Bull, Radner’s cancer psychotherapist during the time she had cancer; Radner’s husband, Gene Wilder; and broadcaster Joel Siegel.

The Walk for Wellness is one of the events that the Rochester chapter holds to raise funds for its many programs. Funds from the Walk go toward the children’s programming, including Noogieland and Camp Open Arms.
