Joe gets major points for persistence. He called me in January with a plan and date in mind. He told me how he has this awesome girlfriend that he wants to propose to at their church with all of their friends around them, celebrating.
A few months later we are getting closer to the date and he calls again. It looks like the plan isn’t going to come together. Time for Plan B! He wants to take Kourtney out to dinner. There is going to be a band that Joe will join on stage, sing a song and propose.
A week later Joe calls again. The Covid-19 pandemic has struck and the restaurant will be closed. They are going to head to Niagara Falls and stay in a hotel and Joe will propose along the Niagara River.
A few days later plans change again because of Covid-19 and they are staying in town. Joe asks for my help with planning something quickly, because he still wants to keep the original date. After a little conversation we come up with a plan for his proposal to happen at Highland Park because one of their first dates was near the conservatory. I suggest a picnic so that it doesn’t seem so suspicious (that’s why he has a paper bag).
With the help of my telephoto lens we kept a good social distance. I will admit it was weird not interacting closely with them, but we were all so happy that it didn’t matter.
In a time of such bleakness, when people all over the world are scared because of the threat of illness, love still reigns.
