Pet portrait photography in Rochester

Get awesome “paw-traits” of your furry (and not-so-furry) treasured family members.

(no, not your Uncle Brian… your pets!)

If your pet could talk, what would they say?

Something like this: Mom, can you quit sticking that phone in my face; you’ve already got 74,629 photos of me in your camera roll.

Hey, I’m not here to judge. Us pet parents can’t get enough of them (especially when they sleep — how cute do they look?), but here’s the thing: do you ever print your photos? Take time to soak them in? Enjoy really looking at them? Most of the time, we don’t. And that’s a crying shame.

That’s where I come in.

Hey, I’m John.

A pet portrait photographer in Rochester, NY.

I say it’s time to ditch the 10,000 blurry phone photos, and really celebrate your four-legged (or not…) family member. So here I am.

I capture your pet’s awesomeness — their quirky personality, cheesy grin (yes, dogs grin… have you met a Corgi?), and everything that makes them who they are — so you can cherish your best friend and celebrate them with a wow factor piece of art in your home.

Unique pet photographer

Creative pet photography that celebrates your most treasured companion

What’s so awesome about pets? They love us unconditionally, no matter who we are. They’re the ever-loyal family members — always there to listen (even if they can’t respond — though I bet your pet has a voice, right?), and they even comfort us when we’re feeling down.

Let’s celebrate them. Share your pet’s story with me — their unique personality and lovable traits. We’ll sit down and plan a creative pet photoshoot tailored perfectly for your beloved dog (or cat, rabbit, snake, duck… whatever!), so I can capture your vision and create a stunning piece of pet-focused art for your home.

Pet portraits in Rochester

Stress-free pet photography

How do we make sure my pet cooperates? What if my cat gets nervous? What if my dog gets the zoomies? What if my snake tries to eat the photographer? (Just kidding! I hope!)

And when it comes to displaying the portraits? Where’s the best spot to hang them?

Hey, paw-rents. Don’t worry! As your pet photographer, I’m here to guide you through everything, from choosing pet props and doggy snacks (they work wonders for keeping them still!) to selecting the perfect place to showcase your pet portrait for maximum impact in your home.

It’s simple: you need awesome pet photos, and you want the experience to feel easy, fun, and a breeze for your beloved fur baby, too. Armed with treats, belly scratches and all the pet-adoring fuss, I’ll capture your family member’s photo — and bring it to life in your home.

But beware, your awesome pet portrait might steal the show!

“John did pet portraits of our beloved English Bulldog, Oliver, and did an amazing job in two ways:

1) professionally taking & processing the photos and 2) keeping our dog wrangled & paying attention, which was honestly even more impressive.

I highly recommend John for pet portraits.”

What it feels like to have your pet photos with me

Pet-led

“You can lead a horse to water… but you can’t make it drink!” Essentially, I can’t force your pet to do anything. And that’s perfectly fine! I capture them sniffing, chilling, playing — simply being themselves.

Low-stress

Keeping things chill for your pet is a top priority. Let’s be real, it’s impossible to eliminate stress completely (we know dogs love routine!), but I go the extra mile to create a calm, relaxed environment for your pet. I’ll even boot a pet owner out of my studio — if their stress is freaking their animal out.

Unique

From bold and confident to shy and retiring, your pet has a unique personality — and everything I do honors that. From how we conduct the shoot to the artwork we create, it’s all tailored to you, your pet, and your home.

I’m a dog dad, too. I get it.

Some days, your dog is the best-behaved boy on the block. Other days? He’s tearing the place up, being a little rebel. Pets can be unpredictable — with all their wonderful quirks, behaviors, attitudes, and personalities.

I love that. It’s what makes pets so human-like in a funny way — true members of the family. But as a paw-rent, you might feel a bit concerned. Will they tear up the studio? Bark all day? Do a poop in the studio?

Let pets be pets!

Let me tell you loud and clear: it’s okay. Don’t worry. They say don’t work with people or animals, but I’m tossing out that old saying. Animals (and kids) are amazing. Sure, things can go sideways sometimes, but with my expertise in handling animals and bringing out their best, it usually goes just fine. Even if we have to get out the pooper-scooper!

So whether you’re a dog mom, cat dad, or proud parent of a boa constrictor, relax. I’m a dog dad myself! I get it. And I’m here to create a calm studio environment where your fur (and not-so-furry) babies can shine, capturing authentically awesome shots you’ll cherish.

Your pet photography experience

An easy process

1. Connect

We start with a quick call. We’ll start by deciding where your pet portraits will live in your home. We’ll discuss what makes your furry (or not-so-furry friend) tick. Who’s the sensitive soul, and who’s the wild one who loves constant belly rubs? Understanding your pet’s personality is my secret sauce for capturing your treasured family member in all their beautiful, crazy, real-life glory.

2. Your Photo Shoot

All you need to do is get your pet ready and bring them to the studio (remember their favorite toys and treats!). I’ll take care of everything else. I’m experienced with animal antics of all kinds, and because we will have gone through everything before the session, I’ll be prepared so you can relax and enjoy your session.

3. View and Order

After your session, you’ll return to the studio for your Viewing and Ordering appointment. You’ll select your favorites and decide which portrait images you want to display and where. Since you will be finalizing your portrait order, it’s important that everyone who matters (whoever is paying the bill!) comes along.

Think of me as your friendly pet‑portrait‑photo‑man.

I take fun, bright, and confidence-bursting photos of your awesome furry (and not-so-furry) family members. No, I’m not talking about your Uncle Brian. I’m talking about your pets! And I turn them into wow-factor pieces of portrait artwork for your home.

I’m dedicated to cherishing our beloved pets. After all, pets are family, right? They deserve to be celebrated!

Whether you’re a dog mom, cat dad, or a proud parent to a boa constrictor, I’m here to welcome your pet — ensuring a low-stress, calming environment where we can capture authentically awesome photos of your most treasured animal friend.
